A Quick Guide to Applying Decals to Chalkboards
Writing on a chalkboard is something we all loved to do when we were kids. However, as time has progressed, so has chalk and chalkboard art. Today, there are endless unique ways to use chalk to express your creativity.
One way to express creativity through chalk art is to add decorative vinyl decals to your chalkboards. This is great for kitchen walls, coffee shops, or offices! So, before you run to the store, here is a quick guide to applying decals to chalkboards.
Why Should You Add Stickers to Your Board?
You can use vinyl decal stickers to integrate functional or aesthetic elements into your board design. The purpose of vinyl decal stickers is to add beauty and excitement to ordinary objects. Teachers can use stickers to help engage their students in educational lessons, and business owners can use these stickers to add flair to their workplace.
If you don’t have a chalkboard to add your creative decals, you can use vinyl chalkboard paper. Then, add your stickers, messages, or designs for a creative and unique look.
How To Apply Vinyl Stickers on Chalkboards
Before you begin, clean your chalkboard with a wet cloth to remove any chalk dust or ghosting left behind. If you leave chalk dust behind, your decal won’t stick securely to the board.
Once you’ve cut your vinyl decal design, take the transfer tape off the back and carefully stick the decal on the board, ensuring no air bubbles.
To get an authentic chalk sign look, add chalk to your board. Instead of directly drawing on the board, take a piece of chalk, place it in a Ziplock bag, and then crush it into dust. Then, get a paper towel, put some chalk dust onto it, and rub the chalk all over the sign! Remove extra dust, and you got yourself a chalkboard sign!
How To Remove Decals From Chalkboards
Vinyl stickers can damage the chalkboard surface if you’re not careful when removing the sticker. However, there is an easy way to remove the vinyl from chalkboards. The good ol’ soap-and-water combination works like a charm. Pick any soap of your choice, then make a soap-and-water solution in a spray bottle.
Then, use tweezers to remove the decal from the corner and spray the solution between the chalkboard and sticker. Doing this will loosen the adhesive and make it easy to remove.
Continue doing this until you’ve completely removed the decal. Take your time to prevent damage to the chalkboard surface. After removing the sticker, spray the solution on the board and wipe it with a clean cloth to remove any stubborn adhesive.
If soapy water doesn’t remove all the decal’s adhesive, try using an adhesive remover like Goo Gone to get any remnants.
Apply vinyl decals to your chalkboards for a creative, decorative touch. It’s great for everything from inspirational quotes to fun designs. And with this quick guide, you’re sure to get a flawless look!
